1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar – New Orleans Mint – Beautiful!
1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar – New Orleans Mint – Beautiful!
This stunning 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar was struck at the historic New Orleans Mint, the final year Morgans were produced there before its closure in 1909. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver and weighs 26.73 grams.
The obverse features Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, symbolizing America’s agricultural strength, while the reverse displays the classic heraldic eagle clutching arrows and olive branches, surrounded by the motto “In God We Trust.”
This particular example exhibits sharp strike detail, light bag marks, and strong cartwheel luster, consistent with a Mint State 62 (MS62) grade. The “O” mintmark below the wreath confirms its origin in New Orleans — a key detail for collectors.
A brilliant piece of U.S. minting history, the 1904-O is prized both for its beauty and its place as one of the last Morgans produced before the series was paused until 1921.
