Historical Background
The Barber Dime circulated during one of America’s most transformative periods. This 1913 example would have been in commerce just before World War I, the Federal Reserve’s founding (1913), the introduction of the Mercury Dime (1916), and America’s rapid industrial expansion. It represents the closing chapter of the Barber coinage era before Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Mercury design took its place.
